Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist for the 3rd shift at the North Liberty Campus. The role requires handling highly complex clinical analyses on patient specimens and providing technical leadership in testing and QA, with rounding responsibilities on calibration and maintenance of equipment.

Qualified candidates should hold MLS or MT certification and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus 6–12 months of clinical lab experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology program.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
6 months to 1 year clinical laboratory experience required.

Responsibilities

Perform highly complex quantitative and qualitative analyses on chemical, hematological, microbiological or immunology specimens.
Provide technical direction and oversight on testing complexity and analysis.
Train staff on interpretation of quality assurance issues and provide mentoring.
Perform statistical analysis of quality control data and initiate corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements (JCAHO, CAP, FDA, AABB).
Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and participate in equipment evaluation.
