Job summary

  • Follow and enforce all Company policies and procedures.
  • Lead and motivate team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Direct and assign associates to work based on the demands of the department.
  • Conduct and document effective training for new employees, and for current employees when necessary.
  • Audit the work of department members to ensure quality, accuracy and compliance with standard work.
  • Understand and communicate departmental performance as it pertains to the department’s goals, and/or KPIs.
  • Support Time and Attendance in Kronos.
  • Perform the supervisor’s daily tasks in their absence.
  • Ensure that all daily 6S activities are completed.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing a safety culture by encouraging associates to work safely and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Assist supervisor/manager in addressing employee morale issues by keeping the supervisor informed of any discord or conflict in the department.
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement tools to drive results.
  • Perform Forklift Operator duties as needed.
  • Work assigned overtime when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Summary:

The Group Leader’s primary responsibility is to assist and support the supervisor in managing the people and the processes of their assigned department. They are always to lead by example by demonstrating a positive attitude, a commitment to quality, and following and enforcing all Company policies and procedures.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to complete forklift training classes and obtain an MTD forklift license.
  • Self-motivated with the desire to learn and grow.
  • Strong leadership potential with the ability to train.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good organizational skills including work planning abilities.
  • Ability to positively manage change.
  • Ability to verify quality of product.
  • Ability to learn, use and train Material Handling associates on all systems, equipment and machines associated with their assigned department.
  • Good PC skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization, including the demonstrated ability to conduct departmental meetings.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds repeatedly.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work, contribute and succeed in a team environment.
Experience/Educational Requirements:
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some post High School education preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:
  • Forklift License
Work Environment:
  • Must be able to work in a factory environment.
  • If at COIP location, limited temperature control.
