Job summary

QPS Employment Group is hiring a Material Handler / Forklift Operator for an overnight role in Des Plaines, IL. You will operate a sit-down forklift, move materials to supply production lines, and help maintain inventory accuracy and production flow.

This hands-on position requires forklift certification, English communication, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift 40 pounds. The shift is 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM on the 3rd shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience operating sit down forklift.
• Three years of manufacturing/warehouse experience preferred.
• Able to communicate in English, written and verbal.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s license and forklift certification or able to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and request materials from storage to production lines.
• Ensure materials delivered to avoid extrusion line shutdowns.
• Manage RF scanner transactions (receipts, moves, counts, reservations).
• Scan, label, and move finished products to correct locations.
• Perform daily forklift inspections per shift.
• Report damage or discrepancies to Quality Manager or Distribution Lead.
• Perform non-electronic entries and cycle counts as needed.
• Re-weigh or recount materials returned to proper locations.
• Assist production as time permits.
• Adhere to safety, environmental, and quality policies.

In this hands-on role, you'll operate a sit-down forklift, keep production lines supplied with materials, move finished goods throughout the warehouse, and play a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy and production flow. Responsibilities

• Monitor and request materials and color from storage locations to production lines
• Ensure that all lines have materials delivered in a timely manner to avoid potential extrusion line shutdowns
• Manage transactions performed by computer or a RF hand scanner such as receipts, moves, counts, reservations and/or other transactions needed
• Scan, apply LP label, and move finished or fabricated products from production lines to correct warehouse/storage locations
• Perform daily forklift inspections per shift
• Report all damage or discrepancies to the Quality Manger and/or Distribution Lead
• Perform non-electronic entries such as scrap with accuracy and date with handwritten entries on paper
• Perform cycle counts, as requested, to ensure inventory accuracy to avoid stock outs
• Re-weigh or recount materials being returned to proper locations
• Assist production as time permits
• Adhere to company safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience operating sit down forklift
• Three years of experience working in a manufacturing plant and/or warehouse experience preferred
• Able to communicate in English, both written and verbal
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to work well and communicate with others preferred
• Valid Illinois State Driver’s license
• Possess forklift certification or able to obtain forklift certification
• Able to lift 40 pounds repetitively
• Able to work in a production environment
• Able to work in manufacturing environment occasionally being exposed to dust, odors, fumes and noise
