Job summary

Nemco Food Equipment is seeking a material handler to join our production team. You will work in a fast-paced environment using forklifts, pallet jacks, carts and inventory software in coordination with production orders.

After training, you will be expected to meet productivity and quality requirements, maintain accurate stock, and prepare finished goods for shipment. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and standing most of the shift.

Qualifications

• Experience as a material handler in a production environment preferred.
• Must be able to pass a forklift driving test (Nemco certification).
• Ability to keep workspace clean and organized.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
• Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials listed on production orders.
• Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
• Document materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.
• Receive credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials code and lot number; place materials in stock.
• Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
• Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; performing minor repairs.

In this job, you will work in a fast-paced production environment, using forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and inventory software. After an initial training period, productivity and quality requirements must be met.

Relevant Work Experience

Experience as a material handler in a production environment preferred.

Work Schedule

• This is a 3rd shift position. You will start on 1st shift and after an initial training period, productivity and quality requirements must be met. Training is expected to last about 3 weeks, at which time you will move to 3rd shift.
• Sunday night - Friday morning (9:00am - 5:00pm; 8-hour shift 20 minute paid lunch) Subject to Change
• Frequent overtime is required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.

Lifting: Frequently lifting items weighing 5 lbs. to 10 lbs.; occasionally lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Walking: Frequent walking short distances (less than 1/8 mile).

Carrying: Occasional carrying of bulky items weighing up to 50 lbs. short distances.

Pushing: Use of manual hand truck and carts to occasionally move skids or parts short distances.

Pulling: Use of manual hand truck and carts to occasionally move skids or parts short distances.

Bending: Occasional bending required to perform a variety of tasks.

Reaching: Frequent reaching to load and unload parts in tubs, carts, or pallets.

Handling: Frequent handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 10 lbs.
