Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for 3rd shift at our Omaha, NE facility. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and safety compliance to keep lines running efficiently. You will work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, perform routine inspections, and support plant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing.
• Preferred: technical diploma or associate degree in a related field.
• Ability to operate a forklift and powered industrial trucks (PIT).
• Able to read and follow work orders and translate equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance on production lines to keep operations running smoothly.
• Diagnose, repair, replace faulty parts and restore equipment to full function.
• Lubricate, inspect bearings, gears and shafts to prevent wear and tear.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures and GMPs to ensure safety and compliance.
