Job summary

Simon & Schuster in Riverside, NJ is seeking a 3rd shift Maintenance Mechanic to join our Maintenance department at the distribution center. The role focuses on repairing and maintaining conveyors, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, and ensuring safe, efficient operation overnight.

Candidates should be knowledgeable in hydraulics and pneumatics, familiar with lockout/tagout, and capable of using a wide range of hand tools.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of repairing and adjusting conveyor systems including lacing and tracking.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues from 12VDC to 480VAC.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Proficiency with a wide range of mechanical tools and equipment.
• Must be flexible for overtime and able to work as part of a team.
• Adheres to safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout.
• Ability to cut, weld and fabricate (nice to have).
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment (scissor lift, boom lift).

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on conveyors and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems to minimize downtime.
• Follow safety protocols and communicate status to management.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance team on projects and tasks.
• Overtime may be required on short notice.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of repairing and adjusting conveyor system (such as lacing and tracking conveyor belts, replacing bearings and sprockets).
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and general electrical issues from 12VDC to 480VAC.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Knowledge and ability to use a wide variety of mechanics tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow-up on task, projects and inquiries as needed in a timely and effective manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs and must be flexible to work overtime at any given notice.
• Must be able to participate effectively as a team member.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment (Scissor lift and Boom lift).
• Communications with management on all maintenance projects and breakdowns.
• Adhere to safety procedures (Lockout/Tagout) and general work guidelines.
• Ability to follow instructions and directions.
• Possess the ability to cut, weld and fabricate (Nice to have)
