Job summary

Simon & Schuster is seeking a 3rd Shift Maintenance Mechanic for our Distribution Center in Riverside, NJ. The role focuses on maintaining conveyor systems, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and supporting general facility upkeep.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, can operate scissor and boom lifts, and works well in a team while adhering to safety procedures such as Lockout/Tagout. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of repairing and adjusting conveyor systems including lacing and tracking belts.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues from 12VDC to 480VAC.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• General HVAC, carpentry and plumbing skills are a plus.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment (scissor lift, boom lift).
• Adhere to safety procedures (Lockout/Tagout) and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair conveyor systems and related equipment.

Requirements

• Knowledge of repairing and adjusting conveyor system (such as lacing and tracking conveyor belts, replacing bearings and sprockets).
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and general electrical issues from 12VDC to 480VAC.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Knowledge and ability to use a wide variety of mechanics tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow-up on task, projects and inquiries as needed in a timely and effective manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs and must be flexible to work overtime at any given notice.
• Must be able to participate effectively as a team member.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment (Scissor lift and Boom lift).
• Communications with management on all maintenance projects and breakdowns.
• Adhere to safety procedures (Lockout/Tagout) and general work guidelines.
• Ability to follow instructions and directions.
• Possess the ability to cut, weld and fabricate (Nice to have)
