Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Complete daily Maintenance Tracker and report walkthroughs to Master Mechanic or supervisor.
• Perform preventive maintenance on all packaging, compounding, and warehouse equipment.
• Repair packaging and compounding equipment as required (MTCE).
• Train production personnel on proper equipment usage and safety.
• Set up, fine-tune, and troubleshoot equipment using root-cause analysis.

Description Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic at Perrigo NY is responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting the mechanical aspects of manufacturing and packaging equipment and facilities in compliance with standard operating procedures. The position requires completing work orders that involve a wide variety of skilled maintenance activities, performing maintenance, repair, improvements, setup, troubleshooting, follow‑up, root‑cause analysis, reliability maintenance, and reporting to the supervisor on all packaging and compounding equipment. The candidate must handle special assignments and projects as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, Master Mechanic, or Manager, be able to work rotational schedules and overtime when needed, and operate with minimal supervision while exercising initiative and independent judgment.

Starting rate: $29.00/hr. Union position.

Scope of the Role

Complete daily Maintenance Tracker and inform the Master Mechanic or supervisor of walk‑throughs conducted throughout the day. Perform preventive maintenance on all packaging, compounding, and warehouse equipment. Repair packaging and compounding equipment as required (MTCE). Train production personnel on proper equipment use. Set‑up, fine‑tune, and troubleshoot equipment utilizing root‑cause analysis methods.

Experience Required

• Five (5) years of hands‑on mechanical experience with packaging equipment in a pharmaceutical, food, packaging, or similar manufacturing environment, along with successful completion of an accredited certification program in mechanical engineering, design, or troubleshooting.
• Three (3) years as a Perrigo Set‑Up Tech plus at least two years of completed education and active enrollment in a Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or Electromechanical Engineering program from an accredited university or college.
