Job summary

ASTEMO ROCK SPRING, INC. is seeking a Machining Operator to support our three-shift manufacturing operation in Rock Spring, GA. You will perform visual quality checks on aluminum products, load/unload parts into CNC machines, and assist across departments as needed to meet production goals.

Qualifications

  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build friendly work relationships.
  • Familiar with manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Minimum Experienced Preferred: Preferred 2 years of experience with forklift operations.

Responsibilities

  • Visual quality check of raw cast aluminum products.

  • Loading conveyor with machined aluminum products.
  • End of shift area clean up - or as needed.

ASTemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are located in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.


Tasks and Responsibilities


  • Visual quality check of raw cast aluminum products

  • Visual quality check of machined aluminum products

  • Loading of raw cast aluminum product into manual CNC machine

  • Unloading of machined product from CNC machine

  • Loading conveyor with machined aluminum products

  • End of shift area clean up - or as needed

  • Must be able to work where needed in the machining department

  • Must be able to support other departments as and when needed

  • Assist any line leaders, supervisors, managers in other tasks assigned. If all these tasks are complete you are to report for additional work to the immediate supervisor.

  • When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.


Safety & Environmental

Promotes a safety first attitude and provides safe work environment by obtaining knowledge and then following all required OSHA regulations which may or may not include: Personal Protective Equipment, LOTO (lock out tag out), Crane, Powered Lifts, Machine Guarding, Chemicals, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Incident reporting, Respirator, Hearing conservation, Confined Spaces, and others. Maintain work areas to ensure safe and clean working conditions. When possible correct unsafe work conditions immediately.


Quality

Ensures the in process and the final product meets customer and Astemo Rock Spring quality specifications. Follows work instructions, point cards and communicates defects appropriately and immediately when quality issues occur. Follows the STOP, CALL, WAIT procedures.


Delivery

Responsible for completing the planned production quantities as required.


Productivity

Achieves the planned production quantities as required by: Communicating issues to the line lead or supervisor immediately, Following work instructions, Working as a team and promoting teamwork, Preventing interruptions to work flow and productivity, Suggesting improvements to productivity, quality, safety etc.


Reporting

Reports safety incidents or near misses, issues with equipment or quality concerns, and workflow interruptions. Reports monthly "Ask Here" to help make Hitachi Astemo Rock Spring better.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hand to finger; handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear. Requires occasional lifting of weights up to 40 pounds. Requires associate to work inside and outside of machining centers when necessary.
