Job purpose

Machine Operator-I is responsible for running all aspects of a single machine on the production floor. This position involves preparing machines, inspecting parts for quality, performing routine maintenance and adjustments, maintaining accurate records, and training employees to serve as backup operators.

Duties and responsibilities

• Training new employees and backup operators
• Following specification sheets
• Preparing machines for production runs by setting up and adjusting them
• Monitoring machines during operation to identify issues or malfunctions
• Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs to ensure machines are in good condition
• Checking machine output to meet quality standards
• Following all safety procedures, wearing required protective gear, and handling machinery and chemicals safely; maintaining a clean and safe work area
• Keeping activity logs and production paperwork
• Following shift leadership instructions and asking questions when uncertain
• Inputting data into systems such as ERP and Safety Chain
• Learning new tasks and growing within a dynamic environment

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of machine operating experience
• At least 1 year of production experience
• Previous experience with Cavana, enrobers, or matrix machines is required
• Ability to learn and operate Panel View interface and state-of-the-art equipment
• Proper maintenance skills, including servicing and cleaning equipment
• Chocolate/tempering experience is a plus
• Ability to read and write English

Working conditions

• Ability to work any/all shifts as scheduled
• Overtime, including holidays and weekends, as needed
• Standing or walking for extended periods
• Adherence to safety programs and procedures

Physical requirements

• Non-slip work shoes
• Ability to work all shifts as scheduled
• Pre-shift stretching and exercises
• Standing for 8+ hours
• Use of hair restraints, beard nets, and gloves as needed
• Proper use of PPE when working with equipment or chemicals
• Physical ability to stand, sit, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, reach, kneel, crawl, and twist
• Good vision, hearing, and communication skills using professional etiquette
