Job summary

Atrium Health in High Point, NC is seeking a Third Shift Lead Tech for the Sterile Processing Department. This role supports the SPD team, leads during shifts from 11pm to 7:30am, and ensures compliance with processing standards.

A CSPDT or equivalent certification is required, with a high school diploma and two years of Sterile Processing experience. Strong communication, readiness to guide staff, and the ability to work in a demanding environment are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with two years' Sterile Processing experience.
• Certification as CSPDT or other sterile processing certification required.
• Certification in Sterile Processing Management encouraged within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and provide guidance to SPD staff.
• Assume Sterile Processing Supervisor role when assigned.
• Assist Supervisor with meeting department production requirements by leading SPD employees.
• Assist with case carts management and communicate issues to SPD Supervisor.
• Use strong communication when discussing instrument needs with SPD Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and OR Coordinators.
• Ensure equipment functions properly and report issues to SPD Supervisor or the appropriate department.
• Assist with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
• Assist Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
• Support special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
• Protect self, co-workers and facility by following policies to prevent spread of bloodborne disease.
• Work under Instrument Processing Supervisor and support daily SPD operations; act as a departmental resource and model customer service.

Location: High Point

Education / Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years' experience in Sterile Processing.

Licence, Certification, and/or Registration: Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required. Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.

Essential Functions

2. Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
3. Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
4. Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
5. Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
6. Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and reports issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
7. Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
8. Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
9. Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
10. Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s).
11. Works under the direction of the Instrument Processing Supervisor and assists with the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Serves as a departmental resource for SPD and other departments and models excellent customer service. Maintains frequent and ongoing communication with the Sterile Processing Supervisor.

Skills / Qualifications

• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work with computer programs such as Excel and others as needed. Ability to order instruments via PeopleSoft.
