Job summary

Ohio University is seeking a Custodial Worker 2 for the 3rd shift in Athens, OH. The role leads a custodial team under supervision, ensures cleaning and maintenance of facilities, and trains staff on equipment usage and safety.

Applicants should have 24 months of custodial experience, knowledge of safety practices, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Hours are 9:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. with a total compensation package including health benefits and paid leave.

Qualifications

• 24 months of experience as custodial worker.
• 400 hours of training operating cleaning equipment (or 4 mos. exp.).
• Knowledge of custodial safety practices, methods, materials and equipment.
• Skill in operation of cleaning equipment.
• Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and pictorial form.
• Ability to work independently or with others.
• Willingness to foster a welcoming and respectful workforce.
• Demonstrate dexterity in custodial equipment use.
• Ability to read and write basic vocabulary and perform arithmetic as needed.
• Ability to apply practical problem-solving.
• May be exposed to dirty conditions and heights; wear PPE as required.
• Possession of valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead worker: mentor, assist, inform, train and assign tasks under supervision.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and report deficiencies to supervisor.
• Inspect work areas and determine health, safety, and maintenance needs.
• Prepare and maintain records (payroll, work orders, supplies).
• Clean furniture, walls, floors, windows and equipment following Level 1/2 guidelines.
