Job summary

Clinpath Diagnostics in Tempe, AZ is seeking a 3rd shift Histology Lab Assistant to support the Histology team with slide processing, staining prep, and basic instrument upkeep. The role requires attention to detail and ability to multitask in a busy laboratory environment.

Responsibilities include loading slides, processing chemicals, preparing reports, and assisting with accessioning and QA. Training hours may differ; 3rd shift runs Mon-Fri 10pm-6:30am with safety protocols for hazardous waste

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience levels are defined as Level I/II/III with increasing years of experience.
• Regulatory standards such as CAP, CLIA and OSHA awareness is expected.

Responsibilities

• Loading/Unloading slides.
• Running down slides in a series of chemicals in preparation for coverslipping.
• Flatting and organizing slides in preparation for the tech to QC.
• Printing run reports for complete cases.
• Scanning predictive marker cases using digital imaging systems.
• Maintaining instruments and handling hazardous waste as needed.
• Troubleshooting and assisting in department supervision when required.

Job description

3rd Shift Lab Assistant Histology job at Clinpath Diagnostics. Tempe, AZ.

Hours: Monday - Friday 10pm - 6:30am

Training hours may differ.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Histology Lab Assistant is responsible for assisting Histology with a variety of tasks. Also cleans

and maintains assigned areas and performs other duties as needed. This position requires attention to detail,

the ability to multitask, be a team player. The Histology Lab Assistant may be involved in minimal

handling of Hazardous waste.

Employees are responsible for following all Company policies and procedures. These policies and

procedures will include adherence to regulatory standards such as CAP, CLIA and OSHA,

including safety standards in performing all aspects of the functions below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

I:

1. Loading/Unloading slides
2. Running down slides in a series of chemicals in preparation for coverslipping
3. Flatting and organizing slides in preparation for the tech to QC
4. Printing run reports for complete cases
5. Scanning predictive markers cases utilizing digital imagining systems
6. Instrument maintenance to include topping off chemicals, discarding waste and running cleaning cycles.
7. Taking instrument offline and bringing them back on line
8. May perform other duties as assigned.

2. In the absence of the Histology Lab Manager responsible for department oversight and supervision
3. Assist in new employee orientation and training
4. Assist with updating and maintaining Accessioning Procedures
5. Troubleshooting/problem solving
6. Maintain communication with the Histology Lab Manager

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT:

1. In exercising these functions, the employee must be able to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs routinely to move objects.
2. Employee may be exposed to blood products, knife cuts, hazardous waste and chemical fumes, so appropriate precautionary measures must be followed at all times. Certain situations require eye protection, mask, lab coat and or gloves. Hazardous Waste training required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED

Level I: less than 3 years of relevant work experience

II: 4-7 years of relevant work experience

III: 8+ years of relevant work experience

(Experience to be determined at the discretion of the Histology Manager or Accessioning

Supervisor)
