Killer Brownie® is seeking a FSQA professional for a 3rd shift in Ohio to strengthen systems and ensure safe, high‑quality production from ingredients to finished goods.

The role emphasizes HACCP, SQF, GMPs, audits, testing, documentation, and inter‑team training, with a focus on continuous improvement and strong safety culture across the facility.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing QA/FS environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sets the standard for food safety behaviors and promotes a strong safety culture.
  • Monitors HACCP, SQF, and internal quality standards under supervision.
  • Maintains and supports continuous improvement of safety and quality programs.
  • Conducts pre-operational inspections to verify sanitary conditions.
  • Inspects labels, packaging, and finished product for safety and quality.
  • Performs allergen testing on equipment as needed.
  • Prepares complete, accurate documentation and testing records.
  • Responds to food safety and quality issues on the line.
  • Performs monthly SQF audits across three buildings and daily GMP audits.
  • Trains teams on food safety, quality processes, and GMPs.
  • Performs swabbing/testing per EMP schedule and documents results.
  • Maintains testing equipment and verifies metal detection procedures.
  • Leads food safety training and tours for new team members.

Job Summary

This is a 3rd shift position.

Hours: 9pm-8:30am

Availability: Sunday PM -Saturday AM

Role and Responsibilities
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures of The Killer Brownie Co.
  • Sets the standard for food safety behaviors in the room and promotes a strong food safety culture.
  • Monitors and helps ensure food safety and quality through the use of HACCP, SQF, and internal quality standards under the direction of the Food Safety and Quality Supervisor.
  • Maintains and supports continuous improvement of food safety and quality programs.
  • Conducts pre-operational inspections to verify sanitary conditions are met.
  • Inspects labels, packaging, and finished product to verify safety and quality requirements.
  • Performs allergen testing on equipment as needed following allergen runs.
  • Prepares complete, orderly, and accurate documentation and testing records.
  • Responds quickly and appropriately to food safety and quality issues on the line.
  • Monitors hold‑and‑release processes and places items on hold as needed to comply with the SQF program.
  • Assists with training for all teams on food safety, quality processes, and GMPs.
  • Completes testing and inspection (weights, temperature, and volume) of product at various stages of the production process, from incoming ingredients to finished goods.
  • Implements corrective actions and reports deviations to the FSQA Supervisor.
  • Maintains and operates scales, thermometers, consistometer, refractometer, and other items used for testing and verification.
  • Understands and verifies metal detection procedures and equipment operation.
  • Assists departments with production or sanitation needs, as necessary.
  • Performs post‑maintenance sanitation checks to help prevent contamination following equipment maintenance.
  • Inspects staged labels for quality and accuracy.
  • Completes and submits vendor complaint forms under the recommendation of the FSQA leadership.
  • Maintains accurate and organized records.
  • Performs monthly SQF audits across all three buildings, including:
    • Exterior and grounds
    • Calibration
    • General audit (facilities, equipment, food defense)
    • Glass and brittle plastic
  • Conducts daily GMP audits and monitors corrective actions.
  • Updates and maintains printable rack tag files.
  • Performs swabbing/testing according to the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) schedule, including documenting accurate results.
  • Creates and maintains quality reference slides for baking and packaging.
  • Inspects incoming labels for quality and accuracy and reports issues to the Supply Chain Director and Art Director.
  • Ensures certificates of analysis (COAs) are reviewed, saved, and available in NetSuite.
  • Leads food safety training and food safety tours for new team members.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast‑paced environment
  • Self‑motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week
  • Some Saturdays required
  • Ability to work overtime and shift hours as necessary
  • Ability to pull and/or push 300-500-pound rolling racks
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 50 lbs.; stack; and/or carry pans, ingredient containers, etc.
  • Ability to stand for the full shift
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment—1 year (quality assurance/food safety preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with SQF, HACCP, and GMP programs
  • Experience with environmental monitoring (EMP), hygienic zones, allergen swabbing, or related verification activities
  • Science background. (Food Science or microbiology)
