Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Lansing, MI, is seeking a Folder/Gluer Operator to set up and maintain the folder/gluer for pharmaceutical cartons, sleeves and folders.

You will load stock, run the machine per customer specs, ensure quality, and keep the area safe and organized, with overtime as needed.

This role requires reading safety rules and maintenance manuals, basic math, and dependable attendance.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Must be capable of good attendance.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Locates and loads proper stock in preparation for operation.
• Prepares make-ready feeder, prefold, glue system, final fold, delivery, stacker, pack station and inspection system.
• Operates folder/gluer in accordance with customer specifications and current standard operating procedures.
• Ensures total quality of the job while in operation.
• Maintains the machine and area in accordance with standard procedures.
• Demonstrates competency in all basic folds: straight-line, lock-bottom, inner partition, and 5th panels.
• Assists press operators at delivery end of press as needed.
• Assists small machine operators in the rewind area.
• Operates the folders in the insert area.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
• Works in a safe and efficient manner according to company policies.
