Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is hiring for an onsite manufacturing role in Byesville, OH. The position involves performing physically demanding assembly tasks, using torque wrenches and hand tools while following established procedures and safety rules.

You’ll participate in safety, quality, and productivity improvements, read work instructions, and collaborate with a team. This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds and ability to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be capable of repetitive hand manipulation.
• Stand on concrete for entire shift with repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Must maintain a clean work area.
• Meet quality standards and implement continuous improvement measures.
• Read and understand Work Station Instructions.
• Ability to collaborate with a team and work independently.
• Ability to work overtime when necessary.
• Cross train on other jobs as required.
• Operate riveting, torquing, hand tools and small power tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform physically demanding manufacturing duties following standardized work procedures.
• Actively participate in improving safety, quality, attendance, productivity and throughput.
• Operate torque wrenches, air tools, presses, gauges, hoist, hand tools, computers, and PIV.
• Identify components by learning identification numbers and reading BOMs.
• Assemble transmission using work instructions and OE specifications.
• Diagnose and correct build issues as they arise.
• Adhere to the rotation plan and complete the training matrix.
• Read and understand Work Station Instruction documents.

This position offers:

• Starting pay of $23.00/hr. up to top pay of $32.46/hr.*
• Quarterly gainsharing bonus potential

*additional shift differential for off-shifts

What You Drive at DTNA

• Perform physically demanding manufacturing duties including; repetitive processes, moderate to heavy lifting, the use of machinery, and following standardized work procedures
• Actively participate in improving work area in terms of safety, quality, attendance, productivity, suggestion activities, housekeeping, and throughput
• Operate torque wrenches, air tools, presses, gauges, hoist, press, hand tools, computers, PIV.
• Use of pallet jack & hoist
• Properly identify component parts by learning identification numbers
• Inspect parts and identify parts that do not meet the standard
• A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach
• Ability to problem solve
• Must be able to diagnose unit functionality
• Assembly of the transmission, using work instructions, manufacturer’s procedures and O.E. specifications.
• Diagnose and correct issues with build as they arise.
• Adhere to established work rotation plan
• Complete training matrix for each rotation position
• Ability to read and understand Work Station Instructions
• Use computer systems to access company data associated with the assembly process, utilize drawings, bills of materials and specification sheets in both electronic and hard copy.

Knowledge You Should Bring

• Must be capable of repetitive hand manipulation, grasping and supporting power tools
• Must be able to stand on concrete for entire shift with repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds . (with assistance from a team member or use of hoist)
• Must maintain a clean work area.
• Meet quality standards and implement continuous improvement measures
• Cross train on other jobs as required
• Ability to operate riveting, torquing, hand tools and small power tools in a safe and nondestructive manner.
• Read and understand Work Station Instruction documentation
• Ability to collaborate with a team and work independently
• Ability to work overtime when necessary
• Established satisfactory attendance record and performance rating
• Perform other duties as assigned

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

• Previous experience in a manufacturing (automotive/trucking) environment
• Previous mechanical experience
• High School Diploma / GED preferred and further college education a plus
