Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Byesville, OH is seeking an assembler for the DT12 transmissions to complete builds for dyno testing, following established remanufacturing procedures. The role focuses on assembling all components onto the DT12 transmission using work instructions and OE specifications.

You will operate torque wrenches and other hand tools, inspect parts, and participate in safety and continuous improvement efforts while meeting quality and productivity standards.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform repetitive manufacturing duties and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Read and follow Work Station Instructions and BOMs.
• Willing to work overtime and comply with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble DT12 transmission components per work instructions and OE specs.
• Operate torque wrenches, air tools, presses, gauges, and hoist.
• Inspect parts and identify nonconforming components.
• Read Work Station Instructions and use drawings and BOMs.
• Maintain clean work area and participate in continuous improvement.

• Starting pay of $23.00/hr. up to top pay of $32.46/hr.*
• Quarterly gainsharing bonus potential

What You Drive At DTNA

• Perform physically demanding manufacturing duties including; repetitive processes, moderate to heavy lifting, the use of machinery, and following standardized work procedures
• Actively participate in improving work area in terms of safety, quality, attendance, productivity, suggestion activities, housekeeping, and throughput
• Operate torque wrenches, air tools, presses, gauges, hoist, press, hand tools, computers, PIV.
• Use of pallet jack & hoist
• Properly identify component parts by learning identification numbers
• Inspect parts and identify parts that do not meet the standard
• A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach
• Ability to problem solve
• Must be able to diagnose unit functionality
• Assembly of the transmission, using work instructions, manufacturer’s procedures and O.E. specifications.
• Diagnose and correct issues with build as they arise.
• Adhere to established work rotation plan
• Complete training matrix for each rotation position
• Ability to read and understand Work Station Instructions
• Use computer systems to access company data associated with the assembly process, utilize drawings, bills of materials and specification sheets in both electronic and hard copy.

Knowledge You Should Bring

• Must be capable of repetitive hand manipulation, grasping and supporting power tools
• Must be able to stand on concrete for entire shift with repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds. (with assistance from a team member or use of hoist)
• Must maintain a clean work area.
• Meet quality standards and implement continuous improvement measures
• Cross train on other jobs as required
• Ability to operate riveting, torquing, hand tools and small power tools in a safe and nondestructive manner.
• Read and understand Work Station Instruction documentation
• Ability to collaborate with a team and work independently
• Ability to work overtime when necessary
• Established satisfactory attendance record and performance rating
• Perform other duties as assigned

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

• Previous experience in a manufacturing (automotive/trucking) environment
• Previous mechanical experience
• High School Diploma / GED preferred and further college education a plus
