Job summary

Muhlenberg School District is seeking an Inside Custodian to maintain building cleanliness and safety across campuses. You will dust, mop, buff floors, vacuum carpets, clean restrooms and restock supplies while following district safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include operating floor cleaning equipment, snow removal, and maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies. The role requires flexibility, a valid PA driver's license, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of operation of power cleaning equipment.
  • Must have current valid PA Driver's license.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Previous custodial experience preferred.
  • Submission of pre-employment medical examination in accordance with Pennsylvania School Code.
  • Submission of a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police.
  • Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare per state law.
  • Submission of FBI Criminal History Record per state law.
  • Submission of sexual misconduct/abuse disclosure release form as required by statute.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

  • Follows all safety rules and directives without exception.
  • Safe handling, use and measurement of chemicals.
  • Familiarity with building evacuation routes, activating fire pull stations, use of fire extinguishers and overall emergency procedures.

LOCATION: Muhlenberg School District Campus
JOB SUMMARY:

Performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Daily check of floor cleaning equipment.
  • Trash pickup and disposal.
  • District mail and bank runs.
  • Grass cutting, shrub trimming, mulching, weeding, fertilizing, etc.
  • Custodial/cleaning duties of field houses, dug outs, press boxes, locker room lavatories, and concession stands.
  • Snow removal – including all District roadways, walking paths, turn around, sidewalks and play area. Snow removal is a District priority and all staff are expected to report to work as directed by the Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor and or Building Services/Custodial Supervisor.
  • Maintain tools and supplies in a neat and organized manner. Keep supply, storage, and utility closets clean and orderly. Maintain inventory for the same.
  • Keeps work carts neat and orderly.
  • Follows all safety rules and directives without exception.
  • Safe handling, use and measurement of chemicals.
  • Familiarity with building evacuation routes, activating fire pull stations, use of fire extinguishers and overall emergency procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of operation of power cleaning equipment.

  • Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code).
  • Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994.
  • Submission of the FBI Criminal History Record in accordance with Act 114 of 2006
  • Submission of sexual misconduct/abuse disclosure release form in accordance with Act 168 of 2014.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Able to climb a 12 foot ladder, scaffolding, and vertical lifts without restrictions.
  • Able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Able to raise or lower objects from one level to another.
  • Able to carry objects (up to 50 lbs.) in arms or by other appropriate means.
  • Able to use hands and arms to reach and pick up objects.
  • Able to push and pull.
  • Ability to walk or be on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Able to travel inside or outside the District as necessary for work related tasks.
