Job summary

Michigan State University is seeking a Custodial Supervisor for a 3rd shift role (Sun–Thu, 9:30 PM–6:30 AM) overseeing custodial staff across campus buildings. The position requires coordinating staffing, training, and enforcing university policies to ensure safe, clean facilities.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of college coursework in HR, communications or business.
• Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license; must drive a University vehicle to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

• Direct the cleaning operations and Custodial staff to foster a high performance culture and recruit/retain qualified staff.
• Train and evaluate front-line employees; plan staffing and time schedules.
• Enforce departmental and University rules and resolve employee complaints and grievances.
• Assist with preparing short-term goals and objectives for employees; evaluate service quality via audits.
• Respond to emergencies, inquiries, and complaints from faculty, students, tenants, and the public.
• Inspect buildings to assess problems and ensure timely repairs and safety standards.
