Job summary

ExcelliSearch, Inc. seeks a Controls Engineer for the Indianapolis area to support automated production and warehousing operations. The role combines hands-on troubleshooting with controls programming to improve reliability and efficiency across multiple facilities.

The ideal candidate has strong PLC programming and motion control skills, experience with Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell platforms, and a willingness to travel ~50–70% on third shift. Associate degree required; bachelor's preferred.

Qualifications

Associate degree or 2–4 years of related work experience.
Advanced PLC programming and motion control knowledge.
Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment problems.
Strong communication, planning and organizational skills.
Ability to lead through technical expertise across departments.
Valid driver's license and third shift travel readiness.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell platforms and RSView.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement control strategies for automated production equipment and conveyors.
Program, troubleshoot, test, and repair PLC-based controls and motion systems.
Support design and development of controls for new equipment and upgrades.
Establish consistent programming standards and controls documentation across facilities.
Evaluate automation solutions and recommend performance improvements.
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance and operations to prioritize controls issues.
Provide technical direction and training to site controls teams.
Explain technical recommendations to plant teams and leadership.
Stay current with automation tech and tools.
