Job summary

RBC Bearings Incorporated in Oxford, CT is seeking a CNC Lathe Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, and adjust lathe equipment, ensuring parts meet blueprints. You will read blueprints, perform quality inspections with precision gauges, and maintain PM logs while adapting to new equipment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with multiple types of presses and assembly sequences as well as the ability to use various gauging/measuring devices, ovens, sandblaster, die cutter and label maker.
  • Mechanical Aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and adjust CNC lathe equipment, including life tooling.
  • Change inserts and adjust properly to bring part to size.
  • Perform quality inspections using micrometers, calipers and gauges to ensure parts conform to blueprints.
  • Learn and use the Data Log system at the machines.
  • Maintain PM sheets and service records, including coolant checks and oil changes.
  • Read blueprints.
  • Adapt and grow by learning new equipment or changes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement to eliminate waste and increase productivity and quality.
  • Keep the work area clean and perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

Job description

  • Must be proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting and making corrections and adjustments to CNC lathe equipment, including life tooling.
  • Ability to make insert changes and adjust properly to bring part to size.
  • Must also be familiar with various types of gauging and measuring devices including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, plug gauges, bore gauges etc. and able to perform quality inspections that will produce parts that conform to required specifications of the blue print.
  • Willingness to learn and use our Data Log system at the machines.
  • Keep up with our Preventative Maintenance at the machines by following our PM sheets and filling them out when completed.(adding coolant and checking concentration, removing chip build up, grease up chuck, checking oil and adding if need, changing out scrap barrel for empty one when needed.)
  • Must be able to read a blue print.
  • Willingness to adapt and grow by learning new equipment or changes that might occur with the one we have now.
  • Applicants should also possess good math skills.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to eliminate waste and streamline processes to increase productivity and quality.
  • Must maintain work area in a clean, orderly fashion and perform other job duties as required by the Supervisor.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

REQUIREMENT:

  • High School Degree or equivalent to the satisfactory of management.
  • Familiarity with multiple types of presses and assembly sequences as well as the ability to use various gauging/measuring devices, ovens, sandblaster, die cutter and label maker.
  • Mechanical Aptitude.
