Job summary

RBC Bearings in the United States seeks a skilled machinist to diagnose, troubleshoot and adjust CNC lathe equipment, including life tooling. You will read blue prints, perform insert changes, and bring parts to size, using gauges to verify conformance.

The role requires good math skills, attendance, PM duties at the machines, and willingness to learn our Data Log system. You will maintain a clean work area and contribute to continuous improvement to boost productivity and quality.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or equivalent to management approval.
  • Ability to read blue prints and use gauging devices.
  • Proficient in basic math and machine maintenance basics.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and adjust CNC lathe equipment and life tooling.
  • Change inserts and adjust to bring parts to size, ensuring dimensional conformance.
  • Use micrometers, calipers and gauges to inspect parts to blue print specs.
  • Learn and use the Data Log system at the machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance per PM sheets and keep work area clean.

Job description

  • Must be proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting and making corrections and adjustments to CNC lathe equipment, including life tooling.
  • Ability to make insert changes and adjust properly to bring part to size.
  • Must also be familiar with various types of gauging and measuring devices including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, plug gauges, bore gauges etc. and able to perform quality inspections that will produce parts that conform to required specifications of the blue print.
  • Willingness to learn and use our Data Log system at the machines.
  • Keep up with our Preventative Maintenance at the machines by following our PM sheets and filling them out when completed.(adding coolant and checking concentration, removing chip build up, grease up chuck, checking oil and adding if need, changing out scrap barrel for empty one when needed.)
  • Must be able to read a blue print.
  • Willingness to adapt and grow by learning new equipment or changes that might occur with the one we have now.
  • Applicants should also possess good math skills.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to eliminate waste and streamline processes to increase productivity and quality.
  • Must maintain work area in a clean, orderly fashion and perform other job duties as required by the Supervisor.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

Requirement
  • High School Degree or equivalent to the satisfactory of management.
  • Familiarity with multiple types of presses and assembly sequences as well as the ability to use various gauging/measuring devices, ovens, sandblaster, die cutter and label maker.
  • Mechanical Aptitude.
