Job summary

3M HEALTHCARE is seeking a Bakery Processing Operator to safely and efficiently run processing/baking machinery. You will mix ingredients, monitor temperatures and moisture, perform changeovers, and ensure product quality and batch accuracy.

You will oversee sanitation, safety, and housekeeping, while following procedures for proper material handling and waste disposal. Overtime may be required during busy periods and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year production experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Certified Production Technician (CPT) certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate processing/baking equipment to meet QA guidelines and quality standards.
  • Mix ingredients, monitor temperatures and moisture, adjust as needed.
  • Perform changeovers and preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Log temperatures, times, and material weights; ensure accuracy of batch sheets.
  • Follow sanitation, safety, and 5S practices; assist with safe housekeeping.

Job Summary

The Bakery Processing Operator, under general supervision, is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of processing/baking machinery.

  • Operate processing/baking equipment to produce products within guidelines established by Quality Assurance and to the highest possible standard of quality.
  • Properly mix ingredients, monitor temperature and moisture, make necessary adjustments, and remove any product that is improperly formed or overlapped.
  • Operate and shut down equipment in the processing/bakery area in accordance with established procedures, including change-overs and preventative maintenance.
  • Communicate and/or escalate quality issues to appropriate team members.
  • Read and understand batch sheets, follow recipes, and accurately weigh raw materials.
  • Monitor and log current temperatures, mix times, item numbers, and raw material weights (including piece weights of extruded product); make adjustments accordingly.
  • Monitor for possible foreign matter.
  • Follow sanitation procedures for clean-ups and change-overs, including chemical handling.
  • Track and dispose of waste accordingly.
  • Move raw ingredients using material handling equipment, including forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Maintain proper raw material levels at all times, unload raw materials trailers, and keep appropriate personnel updated on raw material needs.
  • When applicable, monitor correct seasoning coverage amount and make adjustments accordingly.
  • Practice and adhere to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping, 5S, and personal protection; keep work area clean; store supplies in designated areas; keep aisles and exits clear and free from obstructions; remove trash from the work area floor; follow instructions for safe lifting and carrying of various sizes, shapes, and weights of objects; identify and report defective equipment; report all job‑related injuries to supervision.
  • Mandatory overtime may be required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Work Environment

During the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Lighting is good, temperature is fair, ventilation and dust are fair, vibration is fair, and noise is fair.
