Job summary

The successful candidate will hold a B.S. in the applicable instructional area, Alabama teaching certification, and meet NCLB highly qualified criteria, with compliance to Alabama Child Protection Act requirements. Exempt position supervised by the Principal, with standard teacher duties.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in the area of instructional responsibility required.
• Alabama State Department of Education Teaching Certification in the area of instructional responsibility required.
• Must meet the “highly qualified” criteria as defined by the “No Child Left Behind Act of 2001”.
• Must meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.

Responsibilities

• Assesses student abilities related to educational goals and outcomes.
• Develops and implements instruction aligned to system/state courses of study.
• Plans and implements varied instructional strategies for diverse learners.
• Manages classroom behavior and collaborates with staff to support students.
• Communicates progress and expectations to students and parents.
• Maintains assessment and documentation for reporting purposes.
• Participates in planning and professional development activities.
• Ensures a safe, attractive and conducive learning environment.
• Maintains confidentiality of student records and complies with board policies.
