Job summary

GEO Prep Baker, Inc. is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades K-8, focused on Core Knowledge and blended learning. We seek a dedicated 7th Grade Science Teacher to inspire curiosity and foster inclusive learning environments.

The ideal candidate will have a teaching certificate for grades 6-12 and extensive experience in urban settings, with strong communication skills and a commitment to data-driven instruction and family engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education.
• Valid Teaching Certificate/License for grades 6-12.
• National Board Certification, TAP Certification, Core Knowledge or Blended Learning Experience.
• Two years of urban teaching experience.
• Five years of effective teaching experience (evaluations, promotions, portfolio).
• Three years of curriculum development, professional development and mentoring experience.
• Five years’ experience increasing student achievement.
• Excellent communication with adults and students.
• Familiar with the State TAP program for staff evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement blended learning in Math and science aligned with state standards.
• Engage in data-driven TAP requirements.
• Create an inviting, engaging classroom that develops critical thinking.
• Prepare students for assessments and strong academic achievement.
• Communicate regularly with parents on progress.
• Assess progress and provide feedback and conferences as needed.
• Collaborate with Special Education staff and administration for diverse learners.
• Attend meetings and school events beyond normal hours.
• Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures.
• Incorporate feedback from administrators and staff.
• Perform duties including morning, lunch, dismissal and after-school tasks.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 7th Grade Science Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of science and foster a love for learning. This position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that supports the diverse needs of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing direct and indirect instruction in the areas of Math based on state standards


• Participation in all TAP requirements, focusing on data-driven instruction


• Create an inviting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills


• Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments


• Communicate regularly with parents


• Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences


• Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom


• Attend all required staff meetings and attend designated school functions outside of school hours


• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible


• Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff


• Perform necessary duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in an education-related field


• Valid Teaching Certificate/License for grades 6-12
