  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development as required by laws and school policies.
  • Communicate consistently and in a timely manner with parents on their child’s academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements.
  • Maintain safety & security of the students in the classroom and common school areas.
  • Supervise students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips, school assemblies.
  • Attend all parent-teacher conferences, back-to-school nights, faculty meetings, and substitute in one class per week as needed.
  • Supervise lunch and recess.
  • Support the team with carpool and dismissal procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on current educational trends and research to continually improve teaching practices.

Summary

The Lower School General Studies Teacher will plan, organize, and implement the Scheck Hillel instructional program in a primary or elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their individual academic and social-emotional potential. Specifically, this position is designed to implement and realize the Scheck Hillel educational vision for students & faculty. The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset, a strong background in education and a genuine love for teaching children. The Lower School General Studies Teacher will be responsible for teaching students in the Lower School a variety of subjects and skills, including social-emotional learning, language arts, math, and social studies.
