3D Substation Physical Designer 3 - Grid

Join to apply for the 3D Substation Physical Designer 3 - Grid role at Sargent & Lundy.

Position allows for a hybrid work schedule, combining in-office and remote work.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with engineers and senior designers to produce high or extra high voltage substation designs. Use SDS to prepare 3D models generating drawings such as General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Sections, Electrical Connection Details, Foundation Plans, Grounding Plans, Grounding Details, Conduit and Trench Plans, Conduit Details, Control Building Layout, Control Building Details, Bills of Material, Cable Schedules, and a Shielding Plan. Utilize Inventor, AutoCAD, P4A, and SDS software.
2. Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
3. Conduct walkdowns at client substation facilities.

Qualifications

• An Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, or a high school diploma with 2+ years of 3D drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in preparing 3D substation models and physical design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, P4A, Vault Pro, and SDS for 3D work.
• Ability to visualize in 3D and lay out substation equipment based on client and IEEE standards.
• Ability to follow CAD standards.

Valued Skills

• Associate’s Degree in Computer Aided Design.
• Knowledge of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models production techniques.
• Understanding of engineering science and technology relating to equipment and design.
• Experience with BlueBeam for BOM creation, review, and self-checking drawings.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical.

Compensation Range

$62,240.00 - $97,150.00
