Job summary

FieldAI’s Irvine team develops embodied AI with real robots and field deployments. As a 3D Machine Learning Engineer, you will design, train, and maintain cutting-edge models that process 3D point clouds, RGBD, and multi-view data for scene understanding on construction sites.

You will collaborate with software, autonomy, and product teams to ensure seamless integration of these AI models into production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/ML/Robotics or related technical field.
• 2+ years hands-on industry experience developing and deploying ML systems for 3D point clouds, perception, or spatial tasks.
• Strong background in 3D ML, including deep learning for point clouds, multi-view fusion, or geometric learning.
• Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Familiarity with OpenCV and PCL for 3D data preprocessing.
• Experience training and deploying ML models on cloud infrastructure (AWS, SageMaker) and containerized workflows.
• Solid understanding of the end-to-end ML lifecycle: experimentation, reproducibility, versioning, production optimization.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, interdisciplinary teams across software, ML, and product.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable ML pipelines for large-scale 3D spatial data processing (point cloud analysis, segmentation, scene understanding).
• Train, optimize, and deploy deep learning models using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalents on AWS SageMaker or EC2.
• Collaborate with software and systems engineers to integrate models into production and improve inference pipelines.
• Analyze diverse sensor inputs (RGBD, LiDAR, 360 photos, BIM).
• Define robust data annotation strategies with labeling and data ops teams to ensure high performance.
