Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Pre-Construction Electrical Virtual Design Specialist to develop and coordinate 3D electrical models for large-scale power projects. You will leverage BIM/VDC tools to influence design, ensure constructability, and help keep projects on schedule and within budget.

You will generate precise drawing deliverables, maintain BOMs, and work with design teams to model costs early while guiding less experienced staff.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years in commercial/industrial electrical field or detailing.
Experience with BIM/VDC and 3D electrical modeling for complex facilities, preferably power generation.

Responsibilities

Develop and coordinate detailed 3D electrical models for Above Grade Raceway (AGR) to define and coordinate space.
Generate clear drawing deliverables for construction work packs and assemblies.
Maintain BOM for raceway and cable quantities, identifying opportunities for prefabrication and optimized cable pulls.
Collaborate with design teams to apply BIM tools for early cost modeling and value analysis.
Provide constructability input and oversight to electrical designers and engineers to ensure buildable, cost-effective designs.
Drive project schedules for AGR efforts and monitor progress for improvements.
Review variance reports and vendor submittals to identify changes to the project estimate.
Coordinate with construction counterparts, prefabrication shops, and project engineering teams to ensure alignment.
Prepare scopes of work for subcontractors and vendors; assist in transitioning from pre-construction to project execution.
