Yale New Haven Health Services Corp. in Connecticut is seeking a Registered Nurse on Med/Surg units.

Under supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator, the RN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care while coordinating with the healthcare team to maintain high standards. Requirements include a BSN (preferred), CT RN license, BLS and ACLS within six months of hire, and about two years Med/Surg experience; proficiency with electronic records and a patient‑centered approach

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Proficient with electronic patient records and computer use.
• Two years Med/Surg experience preferred.
• Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse license.
• BLS and ACLS required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s physical and psychosocial condition continuously.
• Develop, communicate and document an individualized plan of care.
• Coordinate and implement the plan in collaboration with the care team.
• Evaluate care effectiveness and readiness for discharge; revise as needed.
• Educate patients and families and document outcomes.
• Serve as preceptor to new staff and/or charge nurse as assigned.
• Maintain performance in customer service, teamwork, and resource use.
• Perform other duties to ensure smooth department operation.
• Demonstrate knowledge of care standards for critically ill patients.
• Show proficiency with arterial lines, CVLs, and pacing devices.
• Interpret arrhythmias and provide appropriate interventions.
• Care for patients with intracranial monitoring, ventilation support, and sedation.

Works Under The Supervision Of The Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. • 15. Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated With Defibrillation, Cardioversion And The Care Of Patients Utilizing External And Temporary Pacemakers.
• 16. Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated With The Care Of Patients Needing Peritoneal Dialysis.
• 17. Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated With The Care Of Patients Needing Conscious Sedation.
• 18. Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated In The Post Anesthesia Recovery Of Patients.
• 19. Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated In The Initiating And Maintaining Intravenous Therapy Of Critical Care Patients.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduate Of An Accredited School Of Nursing; Bsn Preferred. Proficient In Use Of Computer Software To Include Electronic Patient Records. Must Have Ability To Use Internet For Literature Searches Regarding Care For Patients.

EXPERIENCE

Two Years Med/Surg Experience Preferred

LICENSURE

Valid State Of Connecticut Registered Nurse License
