Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. seeks a proactive 310T Apprentice Mechanic in Ayr, Ontario. You will perform repairs, routine maintenance, and diagnostics on heavy vehicles and equipment, upholding high safety and compliance standards in a modern shop.

The role offers full-time hours with potential overtime, benefits, boot and tool allowances, and opportunities for advancement. Some weekend work may be available at management's discretion.

Qualifications

• Requires 310T Truck and Coach license (or 310T level 2 or higher apprentice).
• Own tools are required.
• Experience with welding will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair on vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems.
• Use vehicle computer systems to interpret failure modes and guide repairs.
• Estimate time and material costs for repairs; perform emergency service calls.
• Ensure safety checks and a clean, compliant work area.

Job Title: 310T Apprentice Mechanic

Location: Ayr, Ontario

Shift: Dayshift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Afternoon Shift: 4, 10-hour shifts (Monday - Thursday AND Tuesday - Friday) to be rotated

Requirements

• Licensing:
• 310 T Truck and Coach License (or 310T level 2 or higher apprentice). Valid “G” driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work.
• Equipment & Tools:
• Own tools are required.
• Technical Asset:
• Experience with welding will be considered an asset.
• Teamwork & Independence:
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Experience:
• Applicants with 3+ years’ experience will be viewed with priority.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repair Operations:
• Performs repairs and preventive maintenance services on vehicles and equipment.
• System Diagnostics:
• Performs inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
• Computerized Electronics:
• Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate and assign repairs.
• Estimates & Emergency Support:
• Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Safety & Compliance:
• Conducts safety checks on all vehicles and equipment. Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate / OHSA standards.
• Documentation:
• Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting part usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Safety Procedures:
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Apprentice Mentorship:
• Working alongside apprentices to provide them with assistance and guidance.
• Additional Duties:
• Other duties as assigned.
