Job summary

Montessori Kids Universe of Bannockburn (MKU Bannockburn) is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support Lead Teachers in a Montessori setting in Bannockburn, IL. The role focuses on planning daily activities, fostering independence, and maintaining a safe classroom environment.

They will collaborate with staff and parents to support emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs and CPR/First Aid certification if not already held.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., kneel, sit on the floor & move classroom furniture or equipment as needed.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents.
• Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification if not already certified.

Responsibilities

Classroom Support & Child Development

• Assist in planning and implementing daily classroom activities.
• Treat each child with dignity and respect, recognizing their unique needs and backgrounds.
• Help children develop problem-solving skills, independence, and self-confidence.
• Establish and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy learning environment.
• Support children in activities that promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.

Classroom Management & Organization

• Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room.
• Assist with meal preparation, snack distribution, and clean-up.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Work closely with the Lead Teacher and administrative staff to maintain a high-quality learning environment.
• Maintain open communication with parents, sharing children's daily milestones.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children and their families.

Qualifications

Compensation

$17.00 - $18.00 per hour
