Job summary

Dunbar, Bender & Zapf, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage census information and analyze data related to pension and benefits plans. Job description

  • Gathers and maintains current and accurate census information.
  • Analyzes census data to determine eligibility for participation and contributions.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of salary deferrals and loan repayments submitted to platforms.
  • Ensures election changes and loan repayments are accurate, have correct pay date and are properly reflected in payroll.
  • Receives, reviews, and retains completed enrollment forms, confirming and communicating elections to fundholders, payroll service, and Plan sponsors.
  • Ensures auto-enroll and auto-increase procedures are addressed and/or activated.
  • Reviews and interprets plan documents to determine eligibility and calculate and submit contributions accurately.
  • Provides various materials directly to plan participants (including but not limited to): enrollment materials, participant statements, quarterly/annual notices, Summary Annual Report, Summary Plan Description and Summary of Material Modifications.
  • Locates Missing Participants ensuring that they receive all required statements, notices, and disclosures.
  • Uploads annual notices to PensionPro. Communicate with clients, advisors, and participants regarding enrollment and notices.
  • Receives, verifies, and authorizes participant distribution and loan requests, including corrective actions and refunds. Communicate with participants regarding distribution and loan issues, authorizations, and denials answering any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Collects and compiles data from investment and payroll platforms; generate ad hoc and standard reports.
  • Prepares notices, disclosures, and statements as required.
  • Pursues professional development to enhance skills and understand industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, team members, and Operations staff to improve processes and workflow.
  • Provides input on areas affecting client work and support in establishing and servicing clients.
  • Assists supervisors, team members, management, and sales staff in client meetings and service.
Job Specifications
  • General knowledge of data analytics and mathematical calculation techniques as may be obtained with an associate degree in business or related technical field and minimum 1 year experience working with qualified pension and benefits plans or payroll in an administrative or technical capacity. Additional demonstrated experience may be substituted for education.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, perform mathematical calculations, identify, and solve problems and follow complex instructions.
  • Ability to work individually and within a team. Ability to meet deadlines while working on multiple projects.
  • Ability to maintain and protect confidential information.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to internal staff and external clients and advisors in a manner that is clear and responsive to questions and issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software and internet literacy to perform analyses and produce professional reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to learn and work with retirement plan related system platforms and software as may be gained through training, internships, or prior work experience.
  • Understanding of DBZ policies, procedures, mission, goals, objectives, and organization values as acquired through company handbook, written policies, and on-the-job experience.
  • Ability to maintain designated membership in the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) as a QKA or higher credential.

Normal office conditions 100%. Sedentary for extended time periods while working on a computer. This role routinely uses office equipment such as computers and phones.
