Qualifications

• Experience operating hand-welding and flame-cutting equipment to join metal components.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and layouts.
• Knowledge of raw materials and basic welding metallurgy.
• Ability to work in flat, vertical, or overhead welding positions.

Responsibilities

• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using multiple processes.
• Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating.
• Examine workpieces for defects and measure to ensure conformance with specifications.
