Job summary

Lumbermen’s, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks a Warehouse Associate at Byron Center, MI to assist with receipt, transfer and storage of incoming freight and to pick/prepare orders for shipments. You’ll operate forklift equipment, load trucks, ensure safety, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

• Prior warehouse experience is preferred.
• Ability to accurately pull orders and load/unload trucks.

Responsibilities

• Unload incoming freight and verify against packing lists.
• Sort material by end destination and store excess stock.
• Operate fork trucks and order picking equipment.
• Load outbound transfer trucks.
• Prepare orders for shipment.
• Secure and label products for delivery.
• Transfer picked orders to staging area per delivery schedule.
• Assist in cleaning and maintenance of warehouse.
• Collaborate with the Warehouse Supervisor and team.

2nd Shift Monday - Friday 12PM to 8PM

POSITION SUMMARY

Located at our Byron Center, MI location, the person in this position would assist with receipt, transfer, and storage of incoming freight, as well as picking and preparing orders for shipments in our Building Materials division. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Living Out Lumbermen’s Culture– Leading in and modeling Lumbermen’s core values while creating an atmosphere where Lumbermen’s is ‘first choice’ of our customers.
• Detail Oriented- Unloading incoming freight, verifying product against enclosed packing lists, sorting material by end destination and putting away excess stock.
• Equipment Usage- Using fork trucks and order picking equipment.
• Loading Products- Loading outbound transfer trucks.
• Preparing Orders- Accurately pulling customer orders and preparing material for shipment
• Safety- Securing and labeling products for delivery
• Process- Transferring picked orders to staging area for delivery per the delivery schedule.
• Open Communication- Assisting in cleaning and maintenance of warehouse.
• Teamwork- Performing other tasks as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Prior warehouse experience is preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Ability to accurately pull orders and load/unload trucks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to operate a forklift (Training provided)
• Ability to do physical labor including lifting of up to 75lbs.
