Job summary

International Paper is hiring for a 2nd shift Utility Operator at the Griffin Box Plant in Griffin, GA. The role involves miscellaneous labor to support production, with weekend and overtime expectations.

The operator will perform duties under the supervision of the shift supervisor and alongside machine crews, ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficient production to meet customer specifications.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler.
  • Ability to use basic shop math.
  • Ability to learn; follow instructions and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Following all safety rules and practices.
  • Read factory work orders and documents to learn customer requirements.
  • Identify stock and products that match work orders.
  • Perform duties to ensure production needs are met.
  • Maintain housekeeping and teamwork with machine crews.

The Job You Will Perform:

Miscellaneous labor associates perform assigned duties to help meet operational requirements.

Miscellaneous labor associates report to the production supervisor for the shift to which they are assigned. Miscellaneous labor associates also follow the direction of the equipment operator when they are assigned to a machine crew.

Primary miscellaneous labor duties / responsibilities include:
  • - following all safety rules and practices;
  • - reading factory work orders, print cards, and other documents to learn customer requirements;
  • - identifying stock and products that correspond to work orders;
  • - performing assigned duties to insure that production needs are met;
  • - assisting other associates as needed;
  • - accurately using tape measures and other measurement and test equipment;
  • - inspecting, counting, stacking, and unitizing products according to customer specifications;
  • - identifying and segregating nonconforming (reject) products and materials;
  • - accurately completing time sheets, reports, lists, and other records;
  • - keeping the supervisor informed of any problems and/or unusual situations;
  • - maintaining work areas to plant standards of housekeeping;
  • - maintaining teamwork with machine crews and other associates; and
  • - performing other duties as assigned by sup
