Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries is seeking an Operations Supervisor - Upholstery to lead the upholstery manufacturing team, drive safety, quality, and efficiency, and coordinate with other shifts. The role emphasizes coaching, mentoring, and developing staff while implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

The position requires 2+ years supervisory experience in manufacturing, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work on the 2nd shift (Mon-Thu, 6:00 PM–4:30 AM).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with manufacturing or warehouse equipment and department processes desired.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with ability to motivate and develop employees.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understanding of production metrics and KPIs.
• Ability to work 2nd shift hours: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 PM - 4:30 AM.
• Physical ability to walk production floors, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and assign work activities to optimize productivity and meet production targets.
• Coordinate with other supervision to ensure integrated operations across shifts and departments.
• Support and implement company policies and procedures while recommending improvements in methods, equipment, people, materials, and working conditions.
• Make decisions and solve problems by analyzing information to optimize production efficiency.
• Communicate product or material issues with Quality, Engineering, and Materials Management teams.
• Monitor production schedules and adjust priorities to meet changing business needs.
• Lead kaizen events, problem-solving workshops, and improvement projects to eliminate waste and enhance efficiency.
• Audit, maintain, and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate and compliant.
