Job summary

Seneca Foods Corporation is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Weekend Tankroom Operator for Hart, Michigan. You will support the packaging department during high-demand periods and ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in processing fruits and syrups.

The role requires GMP/HACCP training, strong communication, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with strict safety standards. A shift from 2pm to 10:30pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed, offers a solid benefits

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills are required.
• Good computer skills are expected for documentation and recordkeeping.
• Internal GMP/HACCP/BRC training is required for compliance.
• Trained and knowledgeable in the use of PPE.
• Must pass a respiratory fitness test.
• OSHA Forklift License is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all processes.
• Ensure that the required cook times and temperatures are followed.
• Assist in positioning the product into the retort and removing it when the cooking process is complete.
• Complete all preventative maintenance.
• Maintain proper housekeeping.
• Monitor and adjust Mara, bleach, glace, and syrup tank processing.
• Monitor and maintain brine and SO2 levels.
• Monitor and maintain fruit and syrup Brix levels.
• Monitor and maintain pH levels.
• Responsible for sugar recovery system (APV).
• Receive product tankers; collect samples to confirm quality.
• Monitor fruit for bacteria growth; check equipment for proper function.
• Understand controls for syrup, steam, water, etc.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

The Work Environment

Exposure to wet/humid conditions and extreme heat/cold. Some high noise levels and moving mechanical parts. Exposure to brine, bleach, and cleaning chemicals.

Must wear proper PPE such as bump cap, eye and ear protection, gloves, to ensure your safety as well as protecting the quality of our products.

Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with team members across departments.
