Job summary

Smalley is hiring for a Shipping Clerk at Smalley LZ - Lake Zurich, IL. You will prepare products for shipping, pack using appropriate methods, and process parcels through UPS/FedEx with proper documentation.

You will also operate scales/equipment, read and follow customer notes, and participate in cross-departmental work to meet delivery deadlines. Strong communication and basic math/English are required; this role offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Prepare products for shipping using various packing methods.
• Understand internal packing/shipping terminology and complete required paperwork.
• Pass required exam of basic math and English.
• Ability to prioritize and distribute work accordingly.
• Communication skills via email and in person are essential.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and packages products in compliance with blueprints/part/customer specifications.
• Operates necessary scales/equipment related to the assigned product.
• Works as a Shipping Clerk as needed: processing parcels through UPS/FedEx, completing BOLs, loading trucks, etc.
• Identifies and reports all products that fail to meet appropriate specifications/rejected products to Supervisor.
• Works at the Data Desk as needed: entering jobs into the computer database, sending/replying to emails, identifying, and prioritizing urgent orders, communicating with team, etc.
• Reads, understands, and follows customer specific notes.
• Participates in cross-departmental work production based on business needs.
• Learns and upholds defined quality standards to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and optimize work efficiency
