Job summary

Harris Road Middle in Concord, North Carolina is seeking a dedicated Custodian for the 2nd shift to maintain school facilities and perform light groundskeeping. The role includes cleaning floors, restrooms, windows and storage areas, and reporting to the Assistant Principal or Principal.

Under supervision, you will operate cleaning equipment, manage trash, assist with setup, and help with basic maintenance as needed. Valid NC driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of janitorial methods, materials, and equipment.
• Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and cleaning materials.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
• Has proven attendance record.
• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweep sidewalks and walkways, police grounds, and apply de-icing as needed.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax and buff floor surfaces.
• Scrub and clean bathrooms and fixtures; disinfect as needed.
• Empty trash receptacles; deposit recyclables properly.
• Dust furniture, walls, window sills, blinds and woodwork.
• Clean windows, walls, and light fixtures.
• Clean drinking fountains.
• Assemble, move, and arrange furniture as required.
• Open/secure buildings and adjust climate controls as appropriate.
• Clean and organize storage areas.
• Unload and store supplies and deliveries.
• Raise and lower flags at start/end of day.
• Perform minor maintenance on appliances.
• Perform related work as required.
