Job summary

Bettendorf Community School District is seeking a dedicated, dependable 2nd shift custodian to join our Operations team at the Bettendorf Maintenance and Transportation Center. The role focuses on keeping our schools clean, safe, and welcoming for students and staff. Schedule: 8 hours per day, 2nd Shift.

Start date: September 2026. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a pre-employment physical.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical.
• Pool certification required when assigned to a building with a pool.
• Previous custodial experience in a school setting preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and attractive school environment.
• Follow all applicable health and safety regulations.
• Perform and document routine inspections and maintenance activities.
• Work independently with limited direct supervision.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with staff, students, and visitors.
• Demonstrate strong organization and multitasking skills.
• Maintain a friendly, courteous, patient, and adaptable demeanor.
• Demonstrate flexibility to meet the daily needs of the assigned school building.
