Job summary

Performance Corp. in Carney, Michigan, is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift at our lumber mill. The role focuses on preventative maintenance of saws, conveyors, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics to keep equipment running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, safety focus, and can work with minimal supervision in a loud, dusty environment. Previous sawmill/manufacturing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a sawmill or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on machinery, including saws, conveyors, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
• Inspect, clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment to maintain optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
• Troubleshoot and identify potential mechanical and electrical issues during PM checks and report findings.
• Replace worn or damaged components such as belts, bearings, chains, and gears as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs using the designated maintenance management system.
• Collaborate with other maintenance team members to plan and prioritize maintenance schedules.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations at all times.
• Assist in maintaining an organized and well-stocked inventory of tools and spare parts.
• Support emergency repairs when necessary to minimize downtime.
