Job summary

Valmont Industries in Houston, TX is seeking a Sandblaster to support the Production department. The role focuses on applying CorroCote for superior protection on structural steel, poles, and towers, with attention to detail for quality finishes.

Responsibilities include operating sandblasting equipment, reading blueprints, and ensuring parts meet specifications. Shift: 2nd, 4:00pm–12:45am; pay: $18.50/hr base + $1.50 shift premium, totaling $20.00/hr. Benefits available.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months experience in sand or shot blasting in a metals production operation.
• Experience setting and operating sandblasting equipment.
• Knowledge of how blasting material abrades surfaces to meet specified finish for coating.

Responsibilities

• Shovels or pours abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot into machine hopper.
• Adjusts valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture.
• Starts equipment that directs blast over surface of parts.
• Directs nozzle over surface of large parts until specified areas are abraded.
• Reads blueprints and lays out blasting area; inspects finished parts for conformance.
