Job summary

Brakebush Chicken in Grand Prairie, TX is hiring a Refrigeration Specialist II for the 2nd shift to maintain the ammonia system and equipment, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in a high‑production setting.

This full‑time, nonexempt position requires a high school diploma, at least 1 year of related experience, and the ability to work weekends and overtime. A pre‑employment physical and drug test are required; temp control and safety training are provided.

Qualifications

• Display positive attitude and teamwork skills.
• Must complete a pre-employment physical and drug test.
• Must pass pulmonary fitness test.
• Must complete power jack/forklift training course, Lock Out/Tag Out and Hazard Communication training courses.
• Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day.
• Ability to frequently bend, lift and twist.
• Must be able and available to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Must obey all safety, USDA, HACCP, and the Company rules and regulations.
• Must know shop mathematics, interpret drawings, and be able to use tools required.
• Maintain entire ammonia system including valve gangs, evaporators, vessels, compressors, etc.
• Mechanically inclined with ability to utilize hand tools and testing equipment.
• Observe and record temperatures and pressures as required.
• Observe and maintain air compressors and dryers.
• Maintain water systems including pumps and softeners.
• Maintain quick water system.
• Variety of pipefitting and plumbing, up to 4" dia.
• Perform HAZMAT duties as required.
• Keep compressor rooms and related areas cleaned.
• Physical requirements: lift 50-70 lbs.
• Must have good communication skills; weekends and overtime.
• Communicate with management on concerns.
