2nd shift R&D Associate Engineer

Testing & Laboratory Manager

Your role and responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with a team of technical resources to carry out test requests for Global R&D teams in electrical and high power components.
  2. Perform R&D and compliance testing using standard and specialized test equipment, within planned testing times, ensuring compliance with quality and delivery metrics.
  3. Prepare and operate test equipment for specific electrical tests, starting with calibration, dielectric, and temperature rise tests, with growth towards short circuit, overload, electrical endurance, and specialized testing.
  4. Perform environmental tests such as rain spray, hose down, and water mist.
  5. Conduct basic calculations of technical data and report accordingly.
  6. Communicate test data and prepare technical documentation and reports as needed.
  7. Maintain accurate maintenance and qualification records.
  8. Manage the test queue and update statuses in a timely manner.
  9. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary test data and related information.
  10. Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and workspace.
  11. Adhere to ABB safety protocols and procedures.
  12. Work independently and collaboratively with limited supervision.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and electromechanical equipment operation.
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory and ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Experience with UL, CSA, and IEC testing standards is desirable.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment.
  • PC proficiency including MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for commuting.
  • Eagerness to learn advanced electrical principles and electromechanical skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US for ABB.
