Job description

Nesco Resource is looking for a 2nd Shift Production Toolmaker located in Waterbury, CT. This is a direct placement opportunity for the right candidate.


Shift: Weekdays 5PM-5AM (Mon-Fri 5am-5pm, Thursdays 5PM-9PM)


Pay: $34/hour or depending on experience (with a 10% differential)


Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Production Toolmaker to support 2nd shift operations. In this role, you will set up, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of deep draw transfer press tooling. You'll ensure tooling is properly adjusted and functioning to produce high-quality parts that meet company standards. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, precision craftsmanship, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Construct, maintain, and repair complex tooling, transfer fingers, and gauges based on blueprints, specifications, sketches, or verbal instructions.
  2. Use advanced shop math and trigonometry to calculate tolerances and build tools to exact specifications.
  3. Hand-finish tools through filing, grinding, fitting, and contouring as needed.
  4. Conduct sample production runs, verify quality of initial parts, and obtain QA approval.
  5. Heat-treat tools as specified and fabricate spare parts or assist with machinery repairs when necessary.
  6. Perform tooling changeovers, removing previous tools and installing new setups. Check alignment and functionality at each station to ensure compliance.
  7. Troubleshoot production issues by inspecting machinery and tooling, identifying root causes, and making necessary adjustments or repairs.
  8. Collaborate with maintenance and electrical teams when technical support is needed.
  9. Use computers for basic data entry, including SPC (Statistical Process Control) inputs.
  10. Work efficiently in a collaborative, team-based manufacturing environment or independent tooling cell.
  11. Provide guidance to machine operators during changeovers and ensure understanding of proper machine operation.
  12. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company safety policies.
  13. Perform related tasks as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications:

  1. Extensive experience with deep draw transfer press tools and complex toolmaking.
  2. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  3. Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools and machining equipment.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet quality standards.
