PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

2ND SHIFT

Check-Mate Manufacturing has openings for the position of Production Supervisor. This position is responsible for the operation of an assigned area in terms of production, quality, cost, delivery, technical, safety, and human resources with defined goals. Responsible for day-to-day management of people within production, to ensure the company’s targets and objectives are met to meet customer requirements, ensuring that staff comply with health, safety and standard operating procedures. Strives to continually improve using Lean tools to reduce costs, improve production and quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes, but may not be limited to the following:
  • Production supervisor liaises and coordinates with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure delivery of products to schedule within all relevant quality specifications.
  • Production supervisor ensures that Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are monitored and targets achieved.
  • Production supervisor communicates with teams by utilizing visual management, delivering shift briefs with focus on quality, cost and delivery, and gathering ideas for improvements.
  • Production supervisor drives performance of team members giving direction and feedback to aid good performance.
  • Production supervisor ensures safe working practices are maintained and “Standard Operations” are adhered to.
  • Production supervisor motivates the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced.
  • Production supervisor implements lean manufacturing techniques to exceed Check-Mate’s targets for productivity, efficiency and quality on a continuous basis.
  • Production supervisor supports the implementation of engineering changes, production trials, model change and pilot builds.
  • Production supervisor supervises and controls resources effectively to support customer delivery requirements and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Production supervisor monitors and maintains employee absences.
  • Production supervisor conducts performance counseling to ensure the success of the new hire.
  • Production supervisor ensures that corrective actions are completed within three (3) business days of the occurrence.
  • Production supervisor deals with personnel issues on shift and takes appropriate action via corrective actions, performance improvements and/or performance reviews.
  • Production supervisor is responsible for ensuring that operators are trained on products and processes.
  • Production supervisor conducts incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure.
  • Production supervisor promotes high standards through personal example and rolls out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them.
  • Production supervisor monitors team performance by completing annual performance reviews.
  • Production supervisor provides product expertise within the team and responds to operator queries.
  • Production supervisor works proactively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities.
  • Production supervisor provides support and input to continuous improvement activities within the team.
  • Production supervisor ensures KPIs are met by working to the plan, including management of and reporting.
  • Production supervisor liaises and communicates with other departments and ensures an effective interface is achieved.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A.S. or B.S. Degree in business, management or another related field.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in people management.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in continuous process improvement, process management and Lean principles.
  • 1-3 years of experience in safety, human resource management, warehousing and quality.
  • Ability to manage complex project assignment priorities.
  • Experience with ERP Systems a plus.
