Job summary

Sterling Engineering, Inc. in Chicago, IL is hiring a Production Supervisor for the 2nd shift. The role focuses on leading hourly production employees, enforcing GMP and safety standards, and driving continuous improvement across safety, quality, and efficiency.

You will plan daily production activities, monitor key metrics, and ensure accurate records while partnering with management to meet cost objectives and production targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 5+ years of Production Supervisor experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading hourly production employees in a manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, procedures, and technology.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to plan ahead, prioritize effectively, and develop action plans to achieve results.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; experience working with an ERP system such as SAP or Oracle.
• Ability to work any assigned shift, including weekends and overtime as needed.
• Must successfully complete required post-offer physical, drug screening, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee hourly production employees, providing clear direction, training, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Plan and assign daily production activities to meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
• Monitor key production metrics including staffing levels, operational efficiency, and material/scrap loss.
• Enforce safety, GMP, housekeeping, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate production records, attendance information, labor schedules, and safety documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve production methods, equipment, processes, and working conditions.
• Partner with management to communicate production results, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
• Foster a positive, respectful team environment focused on accountability, employee development, and continuous improvement.
