SUMMARY

The Production Maintenance Technician II ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; and troubleshooting malfunctions. This position will maintain the production equipment to ensure all machines are maintained per FDA Quality Standards and OSHA requirements. THIS IS A 2ND SHIFT POSITION 2pm-10:30pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports and performs planned maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, throughout production.
  • Prepares and submits maintenance reports to the engineering manager.
  • Answers direct requests from the manufacturing floor “calls” by making the initial evaluation of the situation and determining what level of maintenance is needed for the issue/repair and resolves as appropriate.
  • Performs root cause analysis when problems arise to determine if actions can be taken immediately and/or appropriate personnel needs to be called.
  • Participates in equipment optimization and cost control/reduction activities.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering blueprints including schematics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic).
  • Performs changeovers on equipment as required by production schedule.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Participates in cross functional process improvement teams.
  • May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of skill and a broad knowledge of mechanical principles and electro-mechanical techniques, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, robotics or other technical expertise, PLC’s plus diversified long-term experience.
  • Ability to utilize basic and advanced hand tools for a multitude of applications.
  • Ability to interact closely with other departments to support customer focus and efficient operations.
  • Ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills and is very detail oriented.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two-year degree in Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering and/or related field
  • Advanced technical or college training
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Skilled in Microsoft applications, MS Word and MS Excel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works near production equipment or in a typical office area. This position should be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods, climb ladders/stairs, and operate handheld power tools. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, squat, crouch or reach above the shoulders.
