Job summary

Tarkett in Dalton, GA is seeking a dependable textile production operator to run tufting machines, thread needles, and manage backing changes while ensuring first-quality output. You will load styles on the computer, verify paperwork, and perform set-up checks and color accuracy checks throughout shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
  • Strong attendance and punctuality.
  • Prior experience operating tufting machines strongly preferred.
  • Ability to see off shade of color yarns.
  • Read and write in Standard English and proficient performing basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to bend, pull and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or be on feet four 8 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Operates tufting machine including threading needles and backing changes.
  • Runs first quality product with no defects (no mends, no high/low lines, no crossed ends).
  • Loads styles on the computer and verifies information matches paperwork.
  • Effectively uses air splicer.
  • Conducts machine set up checks (scroll motors, backing verification, paperwork and computer).
  • Performs quality inspections during production runs to ensure no defects.
  • Maintains housekeeping of the area throughout the shift.
  • Follows safety and environmental guidelines, uses PPE, and uses tools properly.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Other tasks such as pulling cones of yarns, winding yarn, checking colors, using compressed air per diagrams.

JOB DESCRIPTION


  • Operates tufting machine including threading needles and backing changes.

  • Responsible for running first quality product with no defects such as mends, high or low lines, or crossed ends.

  • Must be able to load styles on the computer and verify the information matches the paperwork.

  • Must be able to effectively use air splicer

  • Conducts machine set up checks (checking scroll motors, backing verification, and all items on the paperwork and computer).

  • Performs quality inspection during production runs ensuring there are no defects

  • Housekeeping of area throughout the shift.

  • Ensures compliance to all company and regulatory safety and environmental guidelines and practices to include wearing the appropriate safety PPE, using the appropriate tools and equipment, and exercising the required safety behaviors for the task at hand.

  • Performs other duties as required

  • At times other tasks besides operating the machine will be required such as pulling cones of yarns from shelves, winding yarn, checking yarn colors, using compressed air to blow yarn into a cradle by reading a diagram for yarn placement
